April Gornik is considered one of the foremost figures of contemporary landscape painting. Her landscapes depict the grandiosity of nature using a mixture of abstract and surreal imagery that she has taken from her own memories, dreams, photographs, and her exploration of space and light. Gornik’s work may be found in the public collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Museum of Modern Art, The Whitney Museum of American Art, and the National Museum of American Art, Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. among others.

Beyond their distinguished and singular careers, we also celebrate the artists’ commitment to humanitarian causes, especially arts education. Both are founders and directors of THE CHURCH, located in Sag Harbor, which has become one of the country’s leading art hubs offering exhibitions, performances, and workshops as well as serving as a center for community outreach.
